Looking in the Mirror
August 3rd, 2010
How many times a day do you look in the mirror? For some us, a quick glance is all that is needed. For others, it can go for hours, or at least it seems like it. What is the purpose of the mirror? Well, the mirror accurately reflects what you look like to discern imperfection that might be there.
In the book of James, we are introduced to the imagery of God's Word being like a mirror. So, God's Word reveals who you really are in light of who God really is. As you look in the mirror, you have the ability to see where there may be imperfections in your life. The question now becomes will you just continue to look at the imperfections or will you do something about them. James says be doers of the Word and not just hearers. Most of us know our weaknesses but yet fail to do anything about them. But if we are honest and look at this mirror (God's Word) we know that in order to become more like Christ, we must resort to a call of action.
The time is now for you to see yourselves as the beautiful creation that God intended. That can only happen when you surrender your desires and let God shape and mold you into becoming more like His Son. Have no doubt the process will be painful, but the end result so worthwhile.

Some Like it NOT
April 23rd, 2009
No this blog is not a play on the 1959 movie with Marilyn Monroe, or the 1985 Robert Palmer song. It is a play on the 2009 Kevin K. Lewis blog entitled Some like it Hot (www.kevinthecoolguy.com). In Kevin's blog he attempts to replay the events of one said luncheon that occurred on April 22, 2009. I will attempt to share my side of the story with only truth and clarity.
First it was a beautiful Wednesday and we were celebrating Tony's birthday (he is like 48 or something) so as always we let him choose or we decided for him, I can't remember, anyway we ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings. As a side note we had to wait 15 minutes for
Many of you know I am not a fan of HOT, and yes I did just yell that when I was typing. Buffalo Wild Wings is known for their wings they have 14 different sauces to accommodate the wing lover. Those sauces range from the lovely palatable Sweet BBQ to the insanely hot Blazin', which stands for burn anything that I touch. I usually stay on the lower end of the sauce scale, around a 3 or 4, every once in a while I have ventured out to a 5.
This instantly became the source of our discussion at the lunch table. I suddenly had 20 eyes upon me, waiting for my next move. So what did I do, well I caved of course! I had to prove my "manliness/stupidity". So reached into Tony's basket and pulled out a Wild wing. Wild is a 13 out of 14 on the BWW sauce scale. So this is going to be hot. I had a plan though, to eat that thing as fast as humanly possible. Here is a picture before the fun began.
Also, as a side note, I will hold this pose for $9.95/mo. I took the first bite and instantly knew this eating really fast thing was not going to work because my tongue and lips were immediately incapacitated. I continued the best I could trying to manipulate my lips to finish off the wing. Here is another pic half way in, note the Kevin Lewis pose (thumb)
OK I am starting to feel the pain now, and I also look like a pirate with my eyes squinting. I think was just really proud, proud of the fact that I was "in the club", the ridiculously stupid club of people who eat insanely hot things, or it was the fact that my eyes were beginning to water like

I did learn a few things from this experience. One, do not cave in to peer pressure. Two, never listen to Kevin! And three thank you Jesus!! Yes, thank you Jesus for saving me from my sin, because if hell is half of one percent as hot or painful as that wing, I don’t even want to think about it.

A Blogger's Paradise
February 5th, 2009
Well it is time for the weekly blog. Hopefully you have had the opportunity to sort through the website and check out some things. The staff has created a rotating schedule so you will have the opportunity to here from each of us. It may not be any good, but hopefully you will gain a little insight into our NS days (non-Sundays).
There is a lot going on at RBC these days and that keeps each one of us hopping from activity to activity or preparing for the next. In doing so, this place tends to become quite a blogger's paradise (hence the title for those of you paying attention). Sometimes we laugh about someone’s crazy experience (see Brother Bill's blog below) or make fun of something someone said (usually Kevin) and even sometimes laugh at ourselves.
You may think there is a lot of laughing going on at Ridgedale and for the most part there is. We are excited about being a part of what God is doing here and that He would allow us to be involved is so cool! Also, the fact that if we didn't laugh we would probably cry, well maybe not cry, but go insane. Ministry is hard. Sometimes people have this impression that say Bro. Bill only works on Wednesday and Sundays, but I am here to say that is simply not true. He also works on Tuesdays from 3-4pm. No, really most of you know that the minister's hours are extensive, the recognition few, but the love of Christ: priceless.
Please add this site to your favorites. We will do everything we can to keep you informed of what is happening at Ridgedale, but you have to do your part as well. Tell your friends to check us out, invite them to a service or one of our many fellowship opportunities. Below are just a few pics from a typical Thursday around here.
May God bless!
Keep a look out, you may see these pics again.
