MidWeek

Semester begins on January 10th, 2024.

Adults

A study in the book of Daniel

Teacher: Hoyt Samples | Wednesdays, 6-7p | Rm 102-103 |

The focus of this class will be the book for Daniel. The book of Daniel is a favorite for Sunday school teachers and students alike. And for good reason. It has all the makings of a great story—memorable characters, cliffhanger drama, and science fiction–like visions. It’s like Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings with a dash of Star Wars thrown in! This is an open class for all ages and you can start attending at any time. It will be lecture-based with some discussion at the end.

A Study of Acts: Ordinary

Teacher: Ryan McBride | Wednesdays, 6:15-7:30p | Ridgedale Room | Starts Feb 7th 6 Weeks

What if the path toward an extraordinary life is becoming more ordinary?

Ordinary is not a call to be more radical. If anything, it is a call to the contrary. The kingdom of God isn’t coming with light shows, and shock and awe, but with lowly acts of service. Tony Merida wants to push back against sensationalism and “rock star Christianity,” and help people understand that they can make a powerful impact by practicing ordinary Christianity.

Through things such as humble acts of service, neighbor love, and hospitality, Christians can shake the foundations of the culture. In order to see things happen that have never happened before, Christians must to do what Christians have always done. Christians need to become more ordinary.

Let’s think together about how we, ordinary people, doing ordinary things, might turn the world upside down.

Marital Foundations

Help is Here

Leader: Penny Holloway | Wednesdays, 6-7:30p | College Room | $12

The focus of this class will be the book Help is Here, by Max Lucado. This is an open class for all ages and you can start attending at any time. It is lecture and discussion-based.

When you feel powerless . . . help is here. Bills pile up. Savings go down. Marriages go south. Work goes off the rails. Stress goes off the charts. It’s all too much to take on by yourself. Fortunately, you don’t have to take it all on yourself. In fact, God never intended for you to do so. He has provided heaven-sent help to walk with you, guide you, and shoulder the load. Someone who never gets tired. Someone who is strong and powerful. Someone who is unhindered by what hinders us. Someone who is always nearby.

Revelation

Teacher: Teresa Regan | Wednesdays, 5–6p | Hospitality Room | $10

When Jesus sent messages to the seven churches, they were timely and accurate. But two thousand years later, in the twenty-first century, those messages can help us and our churches as well. Their primary meaning can have personal application for life. But those seven letters also have an uncanny prophetic significance. Viewed in hindsight, the seven letters seem to chart the historical unfolding of the Christian Church from then until now. This is an open class for all ages and you can start attending at any time. It is lecture and discussion-based.

Acts: Awakening to God in Our Everyday Life

Teacher: Kim Nichols | Thursdays, 9:30-11a | Ridgedale Room |

Starting back on August 17th, Thursday. In Acts: Awakening to God in Our Everyday Lives, a six-week study of the Book of Acts by Melissa Spoelstra, you will journey with the first followers of Jesus and witness the birth and growth of the early church through spiritual awakening to the power of God’s Spirit, message, freedom, grace, mission, and direction.
