Volunteer Opportunities for Tornado disaster response.
We are partnering with SBC Disaster Relief to primarily serve home owners with clean up (starting tomorrow 4.15.20). Meet at 7:45am at Concord Baptist Church (7025 E Brainerd Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37421). You do not have to be certified to volunteer. You will sign a few waivers and they will adhere to all CDC Covid-19 guidelines. You are required to wear jeans and closed toe shoes (Personal protective wear will be provided).
The current plan is to serve daily for the next 3 weeks so feel free to serve whenever you can.
- There is a need for people in the following areas:
- Chainsaw – you must be Tennessee Disaster Relief certified
- Pulling brush and limbs
- General cleanup
- Installing tarps on homes affected by the tornado
Form to complete (can also fill out when you arrive.)
- When completing there are two sections, one at the beginning and one at the end of the form that ask for “response name”. Please enter “April 2020 TN Tornadoes”
We also need volunteers to manage the Ridgedale shower trailer at Concord Baptist Church (Disaster Relief site). Daily from 4:30-8:30pm (Openings 4.22-5.8) Email Ryan at email@example.com to reserve a spot.
Project Description: Volunteers will be assisting homeowners affected by a recent tornado and will help homeowners in Jesus’ Name with roof tarping, debris cleanup and chainsaw work.

Volunteer opportunities for tornado recovery and cleanup will begin Thursday, April 16 and go through Sunday, April 19 at the Hamilton Family YMCA. Manual labor volunteers are needed to be deployed into the impacted areas of the community. These manual labor volunteers will be assisting with cleanup of assigned locations by Hamilton County Emergency Management. If you have power tools or other equipment that will be helpful in the cleanup process, please bring those items with you to your shift.
